I’ve found a router so everything you read below is past past past. I got to get a better router for gaming at the moment this old WRT54G v8 ain’t gonna to do it. I’ve been looking at the NETGEAR WNDR3700 (8 internal antenna), Linksys E3000 (only 6 antenna) and any other Top of the line/Gaming router. Comment on other choices. Comment below on your router and let me know how it worked out. How often did you reset your router and modem? No more lag? LET THE COMMENTS COMMENCE!!!, and be nice. LOL FAIL (you’ll see). Also this was taken with the built in web cam on DiViUs (HP Dv6 1030us). It’s format type is bad for video editing. 10.10 beta on the laptop and the wireless works with the old D-Link THANK GOD. Although the DLink stopped working (over heated). Found out that the wndf 3700 can’t share a printer over the network LOL WHAT!? FAIL. The WNDR37AV can support printer wirelessly. Can’t do any Dlink routers because they have issue with Linux for some reason. Belkin routers don’t get along with Wiis however the Belkin n1 vision still interest me.

All About Choosing The Best From The Collection Of Wireless Routers

Article by David Urmann

Wireless Router is a device which is used with wireless local area network (WLAN) whose function is to forward the packet to the next network point towards its destination. This works in similar way as the router of the home or business work. The advantage associated with these devices is that they offer greater mobility for notebook, laptops or pocket computers. These wireless routers are available in several types some of the types are explained below.

WI-FI Wireless Router – is network equipment which is meant to perform several functions of router. These can work with wired or wireless LAN or with mixed network. Most of the times the wireless routers exhibit a range of WI-FI antenna that emit signals in all directions. These are often called as Omnidirectional antenna as they catch the signals from all directions. If these routers are installed right in the middle of the house, these devices make sure that the every nook and corner of the house should be covered.

There is one drawback of the system. It would become difficult for these devices to reach over a long distance as the intensity of the signals scattered in all directions. These are distance sensitive and hence most of the times a stronger connecting device is also required for increasing the network performances.

Better WI-FI range can also be gained by high gain directional antennas which send intensified signals in a particular direction.

Wireless-G Router – It is one of the most efficient and widely acclaimed routers. The most remarkable thing about this router is that this device can be easily customizable and highly configurable. This is the draft version of the latest 802.11g standard. This may be due to the highlighting features such as the cost of the device which is quite low and the ability to deliver high speed of about 54 Mbps throughout and backward compatibility.

This is considered as the one of the fastest equipments that works at almost five times faster than wireless-b (802.11b) that is very common in houses or in offices. The users are also getting attracted towards this as they both make use of 2.4 GHz radio band. This device exhibits a Wireless Access Point offering you the freedom to connect Wireless-G or B devices with the network. Also for connecting Ethernet devices,it offers a built-in 4 port full duplex 10/100 switch.

This is the best ways of sharing high-speed internet connection, data, zip files, additional devices along with multiplayer games at a magnificent speed.

802.11n Wireless N Broadband Router – is one of the most outstanding routers that are ideal for online gaming and music. This share broadband internet very efficiently and at the fastest speed. The speed of the devices varies with the setup used. This makes use of draft 802.11n technology along with the MIMO which means (Multiple input multiple output). These technologies greatly influence the factors such as speed and coverage along with the dependency on the device.

This is one of the best alternatives for larger homes or offices which are interested to run multimedia or high bandwidth applications.

These Wireless-N Broadband Routers are really three devices in one box. First, there’s the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to your network without cables. There’s also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. The Access Point built into the Router uses the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N’s “Multiple In, Multiple Out” (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce “dead spots” in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections up to 4 times farther than standard Wireless-G. All The Information You Need On Wireless Routers

Like any other wireless system, a wireless router gives you freedom to free the valuable workspace from the tangling wires. Technically speaking, a wireless router is a special network router that connects different workstations wirelessly and routes network traffic between workstations and an existing Internet connection.

Some of these routers are actually wired routers with wireless access points built in so you can have wired and/or wireless at the same time. Another choice is a router with a built-in DSL or cable modem. You can also consider a hardware & software security combo box to connect and protect your home network or office network. The wireless device is capable of sharing Internet connections amongst several computers via 802.3 Ethernet and 802.11b/g wireless data links.

These routers are quite popular among the network users. Moreover it is as good as using the wired networks with absolutely no compromise on the connectivity, speed, and security. A wireless LAN router generally adds a built-in access point function to a multi-port Ethernet router.

]]>

With this it combines multiple Ethernet networks with wireless connections as well. A typical wireless LAN router includes four Ethernet ports, an 802.11 access point, and sometimes a parallel port so it can function as a print server. This gives wireless users the same ability as wired users to send and receive packets over multiple networks.

There are many manufacturers of these wireless devices, popular of them are D-Link, Netgear, Actiontec etc. Out of these, the D-Link routers is what we find is the popular product amongst the home and commercial users. These routers have an uncanny ability that delivers superior performance capability to transfer large files and handle heavy network traffic.

Most of these routers offer many important benefits in the home and small office setting. For instance, you can opt to a cable modem service that provides a single IP address through DHCP to the router, and the router then provides IP addresses via DHCP to clients on your local network. This helps to a great deal whenever that client needs to access the Internet.

Routers are very much ideal for wireless networks in commercial or public areas, especially if there are multiple networks that are accessible. These routers if considered in an enterprise environment give network administrators an extra way to monitor and update their networks.

As these routers only send packets to specific, directed addresses, they do not forward the broadcast packets that are sent out by other devices. A big advantage of such routers is that they provide an added layer of security, both on the wired side and wireless side. The wired side is usually protected by a firewall and has extensive access control filters.

That is why, not only the wireless routers are more user friendly and space saving, they are also great on speed, and have an ability to handle multiple networks with ease and without sacrificing the security.

Best Wireless Router Conclusions

Drowsiness,

The good qualities:

An easy task to set-up, very fast, good range indoors and out doors, great design, user friendly set up on/off option. My own N desktop hooks up at 300Mbps, checks for upgrades immediately, incredibly reliable.

The downsides:

Somewhat on the expensive side, that is canceled out by how wonderful this device is.

We have no problems with it even after a firmware update. You don’t have to use the Compact disk that is included with it as it’s all basically self explanatory in the first place. It’s remarkable the way it shows which personal computer is utilizing UPnP and also on which ports. This router can be used with a sixty-four bit copy of ms windows quite easily enough, and you’re able to simply log directly into the router via it’s Ip of 192.168.1.1 and set it up from that point.

We’d surely highly recommend this to other consumers. I am aware it’s a little expensive however it is worth the cost so far.

Wireless Broadband Routers – 6 Ways to Improve Your Signal

We have all experienced the annoyance of our PC or Laptop losing its connection with the wireless router in our homes – this guide will help you to reduce the chances of this happening whilst also boosting the range of the router. 1 – Location of the Router If possible it is best to place your wireless router in a location that is central to the area in which you wish to receive a signal. If a router is placed at one end of your house the signal has further to travel to reach the other end – by locating the router is a central position this distance is reduced. 2 – Surrounding Area It is advised that you do not place the router in close proximity to walls or large metal objects as these may drain the strength of the signal thus reducing its reach. Also be aware that some cordless home phones have been known to cause interference with wireless routers – the same is true of microwave ovens. 3 – Replace Your Routers Antenna The antenna (or aerial) that comes as standard on most routers is “Omni directional – this means that it broadcasts the wireless signal equally in all directions (360 degrees). This is fine if you are able to locate your router centrally (as mentioned in Point 1) – however for most this is not possible. By upgrading to a high gain antennae that focuses the signal in one direction you can boost your signal range and strength significantly. 4 – Install a Repeater A repeater simply boosts a wireless signal and sends it on its way – no more no less. These devices require no extra cabling – to implement a repeater you simply find a suitable location (for example halfway between the wireless router and the area that has a weak signal) and power the repeater on. It’s that simple! 5 – Upgrade Your Routers Firmware Wireless router manufacturers regularly upgrade the firmware (the built in software) in their products to increase signal range and performance. These upgrades are usually free. To upgrade your routers firmware please visit the manufacturers website and follow the instructions for your router model. 6 – Use Equipment from a Single Manufacturer Whilst all routers and adapters are designed to work with each other you can often see performance improvements when using both a router and adapter made by the same manufacturer. This is mainly down to the fact that some router manufacturers utilise signal boosting techniques that only give optimal performance when used with adapters made by themselves.
